Bitcoin up or down: how 5 and 15 minute Ranked rounds work

Call whether Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana or XRP ends a 5 or 15 minute round higher or lower. The rules, the star window and how to climb the Ranked ladder, free.

Ranked rounds are short crypto calls: pick a coin and a length, then say whether the price will be Up or Down when the round ends. Each round starts with a "price to beat", the price at the start, priced live from Coinbase. Finish a round ahead and you win Vpoints and a star; stars move you up a ladder from Warrior to Glorious Mythic. It's free, and nothing here is financial advice.

The basics

  • Coins: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL) and XRP.
  • Lengths: 5 minutes or 15 minutes. A new round starts automatically every 5 or 15 minutes, day and night.
  • Your call: Up if you think the price will be higher than the price to beat when the round ends, Down if you think it will be lower.
  • How much: 1 to 1,000 Vpoints each time, while the round is open. Calls close 10 seconds before the end.

When the round ends, the end price is compared with the price to beat. The winning side gets its Vpoints back plus a share of the other side's Vpoints, just like a normal market.

When everyone gets their Vpoints back

A round is refunded, with no stars and no VXP, when the price didn't move at all, when nobody took the other side, or when the price data was missing or too old to trust.

Stars and the star window

Your Ranked tier is built from stars:

  • +1 star when you finish a round in profit, −1 star when you finish at a loss, nothing when you break even. You can't go below 0.
  • A round only counts for stars when at least 3 different players took part.
  • Only calls made early count for stars: the first 2 minutes of a 5-minute round, or the first 6 minutes of a 15-minute round.

The early window exists for fairness. Late in a round the direction is often already visible, so a late call could otherwise be used to rescue a star. Late calls still win or lose Vpoints as normal; they just never move your star.

The ladder

Stars are counted in one straight line through eight tiers: Warrior, Fighter, Master, Grand Master, Epic, Legend, Mythic and Glorious Mythic. Each tier up to Mythic has 4 divisions. Warrior, Fighter and Master need 4 stars per division; Grand Master, Epic, Legend and Mythic need 5. At Glorious Mythic there are no more divisions and your stars just keep counting.

A season lasts 60 days. Then the ladder resets: everyone restarts from Warrior 1, except players who finished in Glorious Mythic, who restart at Master 1. Your VXP and level stay forever. See the Ranked leaderboard for the current season.

How to approach a round

There's no reliable way to know where a price goes in the next five minutes, and anyone who promises one is selling something. What you can control is how you play:

  1. Decide inside the star window. If you want stars, make your call early. Waiting for the price to move first means your call won't count for stars.
  2. Keep your calls small and steady. Big swings on one round make your Vpoints jump around; a steady approach lets you play many rounds.
  3. Notice what the crowd does. The split between Up and Down shows where players lean. It isn't a forecast you can rely on over a few minutes, but it tells you how much you'd share if you're right against the crowd.
  4. Play the length that suits you. Fifteen-minute rounds give you more time to think; five-minute rounds are faster and noisier.

Nothing in Vatic is financial advice, and Ranked prices are used only to settle the game.

FAQ

What is a Bitcoin up or down game?

A short round where you call whether Bitcoin's price will be higher or lower at the end than at the start. On Vatic you play it free with Vpoints, in 5 or 15 minute rounds.

Where do the prices come from?

From the live Coinbase feed. Each round's price to beat is the price when the round starts.

Why didn't my call give me a star?

Only calls made in the first 2 minutes of a 5-minute round, or the first 6 minutes of a 15-minute round, count for stars, and the round needs at least 3 players.

Does Ranked cost money?

No. You play with free Vpoints, which have no cash value and can't be bought or cashed out.

Vatic is a free prediction game for adults (18+). Vpoints have no cash value and can't be bought or cashed out. Nothing here is financial or betting advice.
